Malinda Maynor Lowery

Producer
Malinda Maynor Lowery is a historian and film producer who belongs to the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. In July 2021 she joined Emory University's history department as a tenured professor, after spending 12 years at UNC-Chapel Hill and 4 years at Harvard University. She is an award-winning author who has written two books and over fifty essays and articles, both for general and academic audiences, in non-fiction and creative non-fiction. Lowery's documentary film work dates back to the premiere of her first short documentary, "Real Indian," at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival's Native Program. She followed that with "Sounds of Faith" (1998, Sundance Premiere) and "In the Light of Reverence" (2001, PBS broadcast). In 2022 she completed a media experience for the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History that focuses on race and comedy. Her first narrative short film, “Lumbeeland,” won a Creative Shorts Fellowship from Vision Maker Media and is in pre-production.

Cynthia Hill (director/producer) is a Durham, NC-based filmmaker known for crafting story-driven and visually-rich documentaries. Hailing from Pink Hill, a rural crossroad in eastern North Carolina, Cynthia is co-creator and director of PBS’ Peabody and Emmy Award winning documentary series A Chef's Life which won the inaugural Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Culinary Program in 2018. In addition, Cynthia received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Lifestyle/Culinary/Travel program. The series received the 2016 James Beard Award for Outstanding Personality/Host. Cynthia's previous documentary work includes Road to Race Day, a NASCAR documentary series executive produced by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) which premiered on go90, and Private Violence, which debuted at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, premiered on HBO, and garnered Cynthia an Emmy nomination. Cynthia’s most recent project is a documentary hybrid called BURDEN OF PROOF. With development support from the Sundance Institute, the 4-part series is headed to HBO in June 2023.

Lynn Palmanteer-Holder, an Indigenous plateau woman of North Central Washington and member of eight of twelve Tribes of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. Lynn recently retired as inaugural Director of Tribal Government Affairs for Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges, the state’s oversight agency of 34 CTCs.  She is a highly accomplished professional that spans over 40 years. She is an experienced educator that has a demonstrated history across K12, post-secondary & higher education as a teacher, school counselor, superintendent, researcher, and professor. Also, she has diverse experience as an entrepreneur, Tribal leader and administrator. She is skilled in curriculum and program development, facilitating government to government relationships that led to formal partnerships between state institutions and Tribes developing custom programs. Lynn has served on many boards and has been recognized for various statewide, and national awards. She has several scholarly publications and has done various conference presentations and speaking engagements, at the local, national and international level. Lynn holds a Ph.C. (ABD) in Social Welfare Policy from University of Washington. She earned her M.Ed., with a concentration in counseling psychology from Washington State University and B.Ed., in K12 Education from Eastern Washington University. Lynn is a wife of 49 years, a mother of three adult professional children, granny of 10 and great granny to two. Lynn and her husband are high school sweethearts, and together enjoy time with their 15+ two-legged blessings.
