Supporting the Production of Native Content

Each year, Vision Maker Media awards over $500,000 in production contracts to independent producers and public television stations to produce programming by and about Native Americans for use by PBS stations. There are many opportunities for filmmakers to succeed. In an effort to support filmmakers, Vision Maker Media collects and provides a number of available opportunities for funding, training, jobs, internships, festival deadlines and more.

This new national prize is designed to provide finishing funds, including outreach and marketing, for feature length American history documentaries in the tradition of Ken Burns. Appropriate submissions are rough or fine cuts of films focusing on American narratives.

The Hot Docs Ted Rogers Fund will provide successful applicants with a grant of up to 20 per cent of the total production costs to a maximum of $20,000. Eligible costs include those that are standard in the industry during production.

The IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund provides production funds to feature-length documentary films taking on in-depth explorations of original, contemporary stories and integrating journalistic practice into the filmmaking process.
