STEVE HOLMGREN is an Entertainment Attorney licensed in CA & NY (originally from Minnesota) and movie producer.  Holmgren works on both fiction and doc film legal, from development and financing, to fair use/clearance work and release.  Holmgren first worked in production with HDNet Films and has subsequently produced with filmmakers including Matthew Porterfield (Putty Hill, I Used to be Darker), Marie Losier (The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye), Cory McAbee (Crazy & Thief), and Adam and Zack Khalil (Inaate/se).  Holmgren was the founding programmer at the Brooklyn documentary organization UnionDocs (2009-2014) and is part of their Advisory Committee.  He has additionally worked in film sales (Cactus 3), institutional distribution (Gartenberg Media Enterprises) and festivals (Sundance, Sound Unseen, the Flaherty Seminar).  Holmgren has served on juries at film festivals such as CPH: Pix, Oberhausen, Black Maria and the Riviera Maya Coproduction Lab, and presented recently at DOC NYC, Hot Springs Doc Film Fest and Women Make Movies.  He has collaborated with film arts organizations in granting and professional development initiatives such as IFP NY, SFFilm, the Brooklyn Arts Council and Creative Capital.
